New B&M store opens in Stourport, creating 34 local jobs
B&M has officially opened its new store at Tannery Retail Park in Stourport-on-Severn, creating 34 new jobs and providing what it described as a “much-needed boost to the local economy”.
The highly anticipated opening follows an extensive refurbishment and modern shop fit-out delivered by Goold Estates, which acquired the former Midcounties Co-operative site last year.
More than £1 million has been invested in transforming the 2.1-acre retail park, delivering c.29,000 sq ft of high-quality retail space across four contemporary units.
B&M’s arrival is the latest success in the rejuvenation of the site, following the recent openings of InStore Pharmacy and St Richard’s Hospice Foundation store. The final unit is currently under offer.
Anthony Williams, property director at Goold Estates, said: “We’re delighted to see the store open after a significant investment in the property, comprehensively re-modelling and refurbishing the former supermarket.
“Attracting a popular national retailer like B&M is great news for Stourport-on-Severn, creating jobs and footfall in the area, as well as providing a great range of value products for customers.”
