Community round-up: Goold Estates Supports Penn Hall School with Meaningful Donation
As part of its continued commitment to community engagement and social responsibility, Goold Estates is proud to announce its support for Penn Hall School, a Wolverhampton-based special school dedicated to providing inclusive, high-quality education for children and young adults with a range of complex needs.
Penn Hall School is a unique and vital institution, serving 139 pupils aged 3 to 19 with physical disabilities, communication difficulties, medical complexities, and autistic spectrum conditions. With student numbers set to rise in September, the school remains steadfast in its mission: to create a safe, nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
Working in close partnership with families and carers, the school offers bespoke learning plans tailored to the individual needs of each student. Staff at Penn Hall go beyond the classroom—fostering connection with the local community through regular events and initiatives. One shining example is the school’s Sixth Form café, open to the public every Wednesday and run by students.
Running such a specialised facility comes with significant costs. From general repairs to maintaining accessibility infrastructure, the financial pressures are constant. One of the school’s treasured resources—an outdoor activity centre featuring a zip wire—is currently out of action and in need of urgent repair.
Recognising the importance of this work, Goold Estates has stepped in to offer support. Charities manager, Sue Hanley, shares a personal connection to the school through her nephew Tom who was a student at Penn Hall until 2012.
“I have so many wonderful memories of attending school plays and events during Tom’s time at Penn Hall and have never forgotten the hard work and dedication of the staff, so I was thrilled when I was given the chance to re-visit with him,” Sue shared. “Goold Estates are only too pleased to be able to help.”
Sue and Tom’s visit marked a touching reunion and served as a powerful reminder of the school’s enduring impact on its students and their families.
Penn Hall School is a registered charity (Charity No. 1093151).
