Albrighton educational charity benefits from donation

A West Midlands charity that supports mentally, physically and sensory disabled users has benefited from a donation by Goold Estates.

The Albrighton Trust provides educational, recreational and leisure facilities to people disadvantaged by disability, special needs or illness.

All of its activities are either inspired by or involve the outdoor environment, including angling, gardening, woodcraft and creative sessions.

It also delivers ‘Me & You, Growing Together’, a National Lottery funded project for young people disadvantaged by disability, special needs and ill health.

Based on Blue House Lane in Albrighton, just off the A41, the gardens are designed around the remains of a 13th century fortified manor house and moat, and are open to the public.

Goold Estates’ charity manager, Graham Bell, was encouraged to visit The Albrighton Trust by his nephew, who has cerebral palsy.

He said: “I was very impressed with the services delivered by the Trust and the commitment of its team. The staff and volunteers have a genuine desire to help people, while treating them with respect and compassion. We are only too pleased to have made a donation to support them.”

Sandie Jackson, project manager at The Albrighton Trust said: “The donation will be of tremendous help to us. We will use it to help support our angling programme and will purchase new equipment. It will help with the cost of providing coached angling sessions for our younger vistors during school holidays.”

Albrighton Trust, Moat and Gardens is a registered charity, no. 1000402.
